First Aid Scenario Training has been designed for current First Aiders who get the opportunity to apply their skill and knowledge to a variety of emergency scenarios that have been set up. This could be dealing with catastrophic bleeding with open wound, CPR (use of AED), Incident management, Unconscious casualty with injury etc. First Aiders are put through pressure during these scenarios so they get the closest feel to a real emergency scenario whilst given feedback.
Objectives of an First Aider:
- To be able to deal with a medical emergency situation within the workplace
- Scene Safety
- Assess casualty breathing
- Perform effective CPR with safe use of AED
- Correctly place a casualty in recovery position
- Correctly administer choking protocol
- Assess and treat major epilepsy
- Correctly assess bleeding and severe bleeding
- Administer correct protocol for burns
The role of an First Aider is critical as they are first person dealing with the casualty. So for that reason delegates during the course are put through a variety of possible emergency scenarios whilst given enough practice to build up their first aid skills and knowledge. If they are to deal with a real life emergency the aim is that they don’t get stuck and be confident to assist the casualty upon arrival of professional medical support.
Our First Aid trainers all come from different backgrounds such as Professional Medic, Ex-Military, Mountain Rescue and Industry. So they are able to transfer their experiences into the delivery of the course and give valuable advice of the do’s and don’ts when dealing with casualties, but also gives the delegates the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.
