Martin began his career working with forklift trucks in 1978 with British Steel. Since then, he has operated a wide variety of forklifts with different attachments across several industries. He also spent time working in a bakery, loading and unloading goods. The only time he stepped away from forklifts was during his work in security for the railways, where he helped establish suicide prevention patrols.

For the past two years, Martin has been teaching forklift truck operation, sharing his extensive experience and passion with new learners.

Outside of work, Martin enjoys spending time with his wife, Sandra. They’ve been together for 38 years (married for 36). He is a proud father of three daughters and has four wonderful grandchildren. On weekends, Martin and Sandra enjoy visiting National Trust and English Heritage sites, and recently, Martin has taken up golf with one of his sons-in-law.
